The Student
Guide is the most comprehensive resource on student financial aid from
the US Department of Education. Grants, loans, and work-study are the three
major forms of student financial aid available through the Department's
Student Financial Assistance office.
The Student Guide is updated every year and tells about the financial aid
programs and how to apply for them. The Student Guide 2002-2003(available
in English and Spanish) is for the July 1, 2002 - June 30, 2003 year.
To apply for Federal Financial Aid, and to apply for many state student
aid programs, students must complete a Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Electronic versions of
the FAFSA make applying for financial aid faster and easier than before.
For questions, or additional information on student financial assistance,
contact your high school guidance counselor, the financial aid officer at
the college or university you plan to attend, or the Federal
Student Aid Information Center - toll-free 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).
